While I was home visiting family, Matt took some people to the Monkey Jungle in Puerto Plata. Ever since we got the boat, Matt has expressed his desire to have a pet monkey. He claims that a monkey would be such a 'cool' pet. I however, do not share his sentiment, so when I heard that he went to a place called Monkey Jungle I was very nervous he was going to come home with a new friend for Roxy.
Monkey Jungle has a 'feed the monkeys' experience where you can enter the park where the squirrel monkeys live and bring along some food (park provided) and feed them. As you can see the monkeys loved climbing all over Matt and certainly enjoyed the food he had too. As far as I know (as I am still in the states for a bit) he didn't actually bring home a monkey, but clearly he enjoyed his time with them.
If you follow us on social media (if you don't you should!) you saw me post a few weeks ago about how I wanted to do a zip line somewhere in the Caribbean. Lucky for me, Matt found the Monkey Jungle, which also offers a zip line adventure. Matt didn't do the zip line on this trip to Monkey Jungle, but I can't wait to go back to do it. I loved the zip line in Mexico, so I can't wait to see what this one has to offer. I know that on our motorcycle rides, the luscious country side is so beautiful, so I am hoping that the zip line will be just as enchanting!
I think the coolest thing about the whole Monkey Jungle experience is that all of the profits from their venue go to charity. Check them out here: https://monkeyjungledr.com/their-story/ explore their site and read the story of Chuck and Candy the originators of Monkey Jungle.
